Caught You Being Good Freebie

What to do with my goodie drawer????

My goodie drawer is going to be more of a random act of kindness reward. It will be totally up to my discretion. I will give students a "sticker," really it is an address label I printed, with the reason they are receiving their reward. It could be for anything! I like to give positive feedback to my students all day long. This is just another fun way to do it!!

Please help me win a grant by voting for my idea on WeAreTeachers!
(Grant request written by Emily Stout on WeAreTeachers)

I am participating in a contest sponsored by ING and an online community called WeAreTeachers. I submitted a teaching idea answering the question: What are your ideas for teaching students about personal finance and financial literacy?

The 5 teachers with the most votes win an iPod Touch and $200 for the classroom.

The recipients are selected through an online voting process. SO -- If you have a moment, I'd really appreciate you going online and voting for my idea. It would really mean a lot to me to have your vote and support! Just go here and type my first & last name, Emily Stout, into the "Enter keywords" box "by Author." My project idea is called Kid Town.
Today is the last day to vote! Thank you so much for your help!
"My Gang" rocks!!

I made some Boggle letters to share with you. There are 3 more packs to choose from!

My students are just going to write their words in a journal. I can't make special copies just for Boggle. So sorry I don't have a cute paper to share, but I am sure you can find you somewhere!

So I have been thinking about making my own letters for several weeks.

And...

I got a little carried away...

The Everything Tool Kit

I like to have plenty of tools available for my students to help the learning along.  I've spent hours making tools and charts for every subject.  My plan for Back to School is to have the children keep a folder in their desk for every subject, and they'll be decorating each folder with the tools.  I have a sample freebie that you can see in this image that includes some math, some reading, and some Science tools.  Come on over to Elementary Matters to download your freebie and see more of the Everything Tool Kit.

Instead of I don't know

l teachers have pet peeves, right? I have a few.  :)

One of them is when student's say, "I don't know." This doesn't help me help them. It doesn't show me that they have tried or thought about it at all. It is frustrating...

Come on over to Simply 2nd Resources to get your freebie!

Looking for Some Health Benefits?

You won't believe what I heard about this week that has lots of benefits to your health!  Hint:  it has nothing to do with teaching, but if you really work at it, you can relate it to the brain.  Come on over to Elementary Matters and read about it!

what?! I’m a no-reply blogger!? the google+ fix

So I was emailing with Miss Amanda Madden {isn’t her name fun to say} and she told me I was a “no-reply” blogger. What?! How rude of me! She said that even if I leave my email address in a comment, you cannot reply to me by email.

Well, I am not that kind of girl, but I had no clue how to fix this! I found LOTS of tutorials on how to fix the problem, but they all said to edit your blogger profile. I repeatedly went to my blogger dashboard, but when I edited my profile, my screens looked nothing like the tutorials! I didn’t even have the same options!

Then I discovered the problem. I use my google+ profile…I was sold on the whole google+ idea, but I really do not even have the first clue what to do with it. How was I to get rid of this!!

I toyed around with my dasboard and here’s what I found.

When you use google+, there is no option to fix account settings in blogger.

After I had the problem fixed, I returned to the dashboard and switched back to google+. It makes me feel more at one with the tech world I guess! Now sweet bloggers like Amanda can email me when they comment on my comments! Thank you Amanda! and fyi-If you do not use google+ as your blog profile, just do the last 2 steps!

Happy Sunday. New Michaels coupon came out. 25% off entire purchase! plus my teacher discount! that’s 40%! Off to get 3 flat canvases for a Monday Made it! Remember to download the Michaels app and all your coupons are right on your phone! I do it for Hobby Lobby too
