A True Test for Spelling Skills

I've had a lot of training in the areas of language, phonics, phonemic awareness, and spelling.  One thing that I've learned about spelling is that mastering the skill of spelling involves learning patterns, not individual words.  Knowing this has inspired me to change the way I do spelling this year.  Come on over to Elementary Matters and see how I've changed spelling!

Using Spelling City for Multiple Meaning Words

Denise from Sunny Days in Second Grade did a wonderful guest post on my blog!  It's all about using Spelling City to practice Multiple Meaning Words.  She makes it very easy with her picture tutorial, bringing you through some of the free content on Spelling City.  I know the children love the activities on this site, and the activities are quite valuable in their learning.
