Leaving Tracks of My Thinking

My 2nd graders have been so busy practicing their reading strategies, and I am so proud of them.  It is very exciting to see them THINK while they are reading.  This year we have been utilizing The Comprehension Toolkit by Stephanie Harvey and Anne Goudvis, and the results are truly amazing.  Jump on over to I Love 2 Teach to grab a couple of freebies and see how I help my kiddos make text-to-text connections with fiction.

Give Me 5! - Guided Reading Retelling Poster FREEBIE!

When I work with children during guided reading groups, I like to use the '5 Finger Retell.'  Every time I was ready to use it, though, I would draw a hand on a white board to remind the kids of the different categories that they needed to cover when retelling a story.  So, I decided I should just make a poster!
