Ho-Ho-Holidays!

Are you looking for some "Christmas Around the World" ideas for your classroom this holiday season? I know my students enjoy learning how other Christmas is celebrated in other countries around the world.

I have been working on adding new, free items to my unit and just today added a list of the books that I use to my blog.

Pop over to my blog or classroom website to take a peek at my *mostly free* unit... Christmas is just around the corner! One of my students told me it was 40 days away today... how is that possible?!

Prefix and Suffix Freebies

I'm so excited today that my second observation is over that I decided to offer a freebie to my followers. I've had several people request the prefix and suffix posters that I included in my last Treasures unit so they are now for free on my TPT store. All I ask is that you are a follower of either my blog or my TPT store. Hope you enjoy!

Head over to my blog to grab a copy. While you are there, check out my new blog design.

Author's Purpose

After reading with some of my students, I noticed that very few of them truly understood author's purpose. When I asked students why they think the author wrote a story they would answer me by saying something like, "because he liked fish". So the last few weeks we worked on this skill quite a bit.I have had so much fun teaching my students about author's purpose. Head on over to my blog to see one of my lessons.

Elf on the (Classroom) Shelf!

Hey friends! Denise here from SunnyDays!  If you'll have an Elf on the Shelf in your classroom, you'll want to take a look at my latest TpT listing:

I have created some resources to use to make this more of a learning experience. I made two journals, one for primary kids and one for intermediate to draw a picture of how the elf was found that day and what they think he did the night before. The one for the older kids is set up like an investigation into the elf's mischief.

There are also some skill pages and writing response activities as well:
