Daily Five Mini-lessons
Happy Saturday!
I just finished a blog post about how my Daily Five mini-lessons look in my room. It always helps me to see how someone else is doing things and I just love peeking into other teachers' rooms anyway... so if you're looking for any tips, head on over to my blog to see how we do it in Room 10!

It is 5 TIME! Making it work for ME!
Now I know lots of you are doing the Daily 5 in your classroom. I dabbled in it a bit last year and loved it. This year I wanted to make it my own! We have a difficult time in our building implementing structured frameworks into our day because our classroom schedule is set for us. We have to find a way to make everything fit into a preset day.
I struggled at first because I knew that I wanted to teach mini lessons in all areas and then find a way for my students to work on skills from our mini lessons. Find out more at...

Book shopping and a freebie
This is my first year doing Daily 5 and I am loving it. I finally got
my running records done on Monday so I started conferencing with my
kids. I am amazed about how insightful the students are. They are
really aware of what they need to work on and what is going well.
One thing I am having trouble getting to fit into the day is book shopping. I have some students shop as soon as they come in the room in the morning but not all students are getting to shop. Usually I forget with all the things we have to do in the morning. I decided to make a ticket to place on their desk so students can go shopping and then pass it on to someone else. I am going to start with 4 tickets out at a time and see how this goes. You can grab a copy of the ticket by clicking on the picture to take you to my blog.
What do you do to manage book shopping? Hope you have a fabulous Friday.

Too Much Paper?
Have you ever felt like you are buried in paper at school ... then you go home and your entire kitchen table is covered with it? Yeah, me too!
Let me show you how I solved this age-old problem with a folder, heavy-duty page protectors, and dry erase markers.
See some of the other items I use in my folders to keep the paper organized and off of your desk!

Daily 5 & CAFE Freebies
I found out today that my principal wants to have school wide reading at the end of every day (in addition to our morning reading blocks). So I thought to myself....How am I going to do this?....Solution: The Daily 5! By no means am I an expert, nor do I have any sage advice, however I will blog about my experience with it. This will be my first year doing the Daily 5 although it incorporates many things that I have already been doing. I have read many rave reviews and it seems like something that I can easily incorporate into my classroom. Check out these amazing blogs for FREE anchor charts, signs, and descriptions about the Daily 5.
CAFE menu signs (4 styles) and strategy cards
Enjoy!

Great Daily 5 Signs and CAFE menu signs (this is where I got my Daily 5 signs)
